Rebecca's Rebellion
“Absolutely riveting!” - Divi
A sweeping tale of redemption and romance in post-Civil War America, Rebecca’s Rebellion weaves together the lives of two souls marked by loss and yearning. When Southern belle Rebecca flees an arranged marriage, her journey takes her far from the manicured gardens of her South Carolina home to the untamed wilderness of Montana Territory. There she encounters Thomas Morgan, a hardened frontiersman who has carved out a solitary existence beneath vast Western skies.
As Rebecca struggles to adapt to frontier life, she discovers strength she never knew she possessed, while Thomas slowly opens his guarded heart to the possibility of love. But the shadows of their pasts threaten their fragile connection—Rebecca’s privileged upbringing and Thomas’s hard-won independence create a chasm that only trust and understanding can bridge.
From the author comes an unforgettable historical romance that captures the raw beauty of the American West and the delicate dance of two wounded hearts finding their way to each other. Perfect for fans of Diana Gabaldon and Francine Rivers, this novel reminds us that true love can flourish in the most unexpected places, if we only have the courage to embrace it.
My Story
Susan Leigh Carlton lives with her husband in an assisted living facility in Lawrence, Kansas. She began writing and publishing on Amazon in August of 2012.
Susan observed the ninetieth anniversary of her birth on April 17th. She says, “I quit having birthdays, because they are so depressing. Now I have anniversaries of my birth. Susan and her husband celebrated their fifty-eighth wedding anniversary on April 16th, 2024, the day before her birthday.
She said, “One of the joys I get from writing is the emails I receive from readers that have read and liked my books. I even like the letters that are critical of the writing because it means the writer cared enough to take the time to write.

"Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real." – Nora Ephron

Mandy and the Widower
What a great story, this book picked up near the end of book one, and so you were reading a lot of the story for a second time, but with a few details. This story was not as good as book one, but I am still wanting the next in the sequel because I have to find out what happens to the family. I recommend this book/series/and this Author.
Mary Kate–USA
On A Train Bound for Nowhere
This is one of the sweetest stories I’ve ever read. They were some sad parts, a smig of humor, but lots and lots of love and caring. Mary Catherine was an orphan from only days old and went she mad the freckles on the orphan train sh was the only one left that no one chose. Trace was a young man that lost his father in the war and his body was never brought home. This troubled him and his mother a great deal. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
Texas Mom
Phantom Hill Ranch
Another fantastic story from an author who knows how to entice her readers and has them coming back for more. Ethan character was so authentic and believable and Hannah was such another wonderful character. I was never one for time travel books but Susan Leigh Carlton really knows how to not only write about people going back in time she also knows how to make you feel that you are there with her characters.
